The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a non-profit organization that works towards a sustainable global economy by providing sustainability reporting guidance. GRI was founded in Boston in 1997. It’s roots lie within the US non-profit organizations the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies (CERES) from which is independent since 1977.
GRI’s global multi-stakeholder network includes experts who participate in Working Groups and governance bodies, reporters, and report users worldwide.In fact the GRI Guidelines are often used in conjunction with other relevant international initiatives, frameworks and guidance.
GRI has global strategic partnerships such as with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Environment program and the United Nations Global Compact. Its Framework enjoys synergies with the guidance of the International Finance Corporation, the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO 26000, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and the Earth Charter Initiative.
Since 2010 Etica Sgr draw sustainability’s section of its Integrated Report in accordance with the GRI guidelines and, since 2013 Etica Sgr is an active member of the Organization, becoming an Organizational Stakeholder.
