The dialogue with issuers and the active exercise of voting rights at shareholders’ meetings of the listed companies are activities that have always characterised Etica Sgr’s responsible investment. The 2015 shareholders’ meeting season has begun and, in addition to continuing the themes dealt with in previous years such as, for example, transparent remuneration policies, reporting of socio-environmental, political and human rights aspects, Etica is focusing attention on those themes that are the subject of the Expo 2015 event in Milan and also currently at the centre of the dialogue activities conducted by international networks such as the ICCR (Interfaith Centre on Corporate Responsibility), CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and PRI (Principles for Responsible Investments).
In fact, Etica Sgr is taking to the shareholders’ meetings of Italian and international companies topics linked to “Food” and the “Environment” and is calling for the adoption of specific measures relating to compliance with the rights of workers in the agro-food industry, the use of ingredients other than palm oil in products, transparent communication in relation to the use of GMOs and pesticides and the adoption of effective systems for the traceability of all ingredients. In addition, it is verifying the presence of quantitative objectives of reducing climate-altering gases, the commitment to calculating the carbon footprint and the correct use of water resources in production processes.
