Last August ICCR members sent a letter to 34 companies, both listed and unlisted, operating in the food sector, mass distribution and the media, to raise their awareness on the problem of childhood obesity. The initiative’s leader is the American responsible management company Boston Common Asset Management, one of the main partners of Etica SGR’s engagement activities.
There has been a significant increase in the percentage of obese children and adolescents in various countries of the world (especially the United States) in recent years. . The US non-profit organisation Better Business Bureau launched the CFBAI (Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative) programme in 2006, a self-regulation initiative for food product advertising aimed at children under 12 years old, to encourage them to lead a healthier lifestyle with a better diet. The initiative sets rules regarding which products can be advertised by the member companies and some restrictions are also imposed on the type of advertising.
Etica co-signed the letter.
